๐Ÿ“œ Scenario (OOC)

Learn what a scenario (OOC) is and how to create one.

A template for a scene's setting, situation, or world. Handy when you can't think of an idea from scratch.

In Standard Mode, you can always type your own one-line situation. But when that feels like a hassle โ€” or nothing's coming to mind โ€” scenarios are the way to go.

  • When you don't feel like thinking

  • When you can't come up with a good situation

  • When you want to use a proven, well-crafted world from another user

  • Era / setting (Victorian era, isekai, modern day, etc.)

  • Situation (first meeting, reunion after breakup, crisis, etc.)

  • World (zombie apocalypse, magic school, etc.)

  • Relationships (colleagues, rivals, lovers, etc.)

Once you add a scenario, a scene is made of two things:

  • Character โ€” who you meet

  • Scenario โ€” where and how you meet

For example, combine "Alex Morgan" with "Victorian Era AU" to make a scene set in Victorian times with Alex.

Using one "Victorian Era AU" scenario, you can make separate scenes with Alex Morgan, Ethan Carter, and Noah Kim. You can also browse other users' takes on the same scenario.

OOC stands for Out of Character. Originally a term from AI character chat communities, Scenes turned it into an official feature.

Out of Character = a command that pulls a character out of their default setup into a different situation.

On other services, users had to type prompts manually. For example: "OOC: Assume this character lives in the Victorian era and chat with me."

Around 80% of users relied on this workaround โ€” demand was that high.

Scenes' scenarios are exactly this OOC concept. No manual prompting needed โ€” just pick a scenario template.

"OOC" stuck around because it's familiar to existing users. In practice, think of it as a situation and world guide.
